Conversations with Jen: Dusting Off Truths

Here is the follow up letter my guest wrote after our “Conversations with Jen” session.  We had worked together eleven years ago when he was gifted with a fifteen minute introduction to me.  In that fifteen minutes, I became loved and respected by his family.  They desperately wanted a dog.  He was adamant that they could not have one.  He had many excuses.  After fifteen minutes on the call with me, he got off the phone and announced to his family that they were getting a dog.  The dog is eleven years old now and a beloved member of the family.

Check out the image below from my fitness tracker with this afternoon’s run. Felt good throughout and the hip was much better. No surprise there!

Walking up the street at the start of my run, I passed a neighbor’s driveway basketball hoop where three or four kids were shooting around. I called out, “Give me one shot, I’m feeling it today!” I had done this same thing two or three times in recent weeks and put up either an air ball or a brick (basketball jargon for not only a miss but an awful-looking miss!).

Today? My shot banged off the backboard and swished through the net, with such force and accuracy that the kids, and a dad sitting in the porch steps, watched it go in and then looked at me with a momentary silence like I have special powers. I’m learning I do!

Thanks for an amazing time together this afternoon. Looking forward to our next time!
