Songs and sound provide a powerful form of healing.
In this conversation, we recount the humorous story of how and why we came to use the music of Dave Kolker in the intro and outro of each ‘Jen in Her Jammies’ episode.
With his music, Dave has harvested the pain of the human experience. Drawing pain to the surface in this way enables me to pull it out – creating a profound healing experience. People are tired of carrying around their pain and often, the person causing us pain is tired too. Both benefit from it being released.
We also talk about the way I use specific songs and sounds in the moment during private healing sessions – and how the songs and sounds that arise also lead to profound healing experiences.
It is important for us to pay attention to what we allow into our sound frequency. If we are feeling sad, it is best to avoid amplifying our sadness by indulging in sad, depressive songs.
Instead, we can use sound to release negative issues. The didgeridoo – an instrument fashioned from a hollow log by Australian aborigines – provides a particularly effective way to do this.
