The series of conversations that led to this podcasts called “Jen and Her Jammies” started with Marvin and I having conversations about what turned him off about spiritual groups and practices. He would be interested in some truths a particular person or group was sharing. But he was then confronted with the Spiritual Wankerism within their tenants.
Spiritual Wankerism is the add-ons that are attached to truths to make them seem unique to a particular sect or person. Everyone wants to be special. But truth is truth. Its Universal. So when you tap into truth at a very deep level, the peripheral mandatory practices fall away and truth stands alone. The problem is that the peripherals that the group or person adds on as addendums, may be the thing that gets in the way of their group immersing in truth.
Anything that is mandatory, focuses on an external practice, instils fear, demands a rigid set of practices, makes someone else feel inadequate, demands a payment, doesn’t resonate as truth, or disrupts the trajectory of the individual towards greater truth is spiritual wankerism.
